Taking a Moment to Breathe | Anxiety Counselling

Take a moment right now and listen and feel your breathing rate. Are you in a work state and doing what I call casual/normal breathing? Maybe you’re in a super relaxed state and doing some deep intentional breathing. Or, you might be in a state of crisis and doing what I call shallow breathing.

Of all the breathing styles out there, shallow breathing is the worst kind of breathing because it’s unregulated breathing that does not allow proper oxygen intake into our brain which houses our thoughts and emotions.

Take time throughout the day and begin to notice your breathing so you can begin to consciously work towards a state of deep breathing which will allow a healthy flow of oxygen in your brain, thereby allowing you to access both your thoughts and emotions in a healthy way.

If you are finding difficulty in maintaining a deeper sense of intentional breathing, or just finding you’re always in a state of shallow breathing it might be time to consider finding a Psychotherapist or Clinical Counsellor that can support you with Anxiety Counselling.
