One of the metaphorical ways I like to describe stress is that it often lies somewhere in the middle of stress, depression, and anxiety. You may have either depression or anxiety or both, however, both can be in part due to having too much stress in your life.
It’s important to understand there are generally considered 2 types of stress. The first type of stress, which is considered a bad type of stress is called toxic stress. This is the kind of stress that can lead to major burnout as an adult or create in a child missing blocks in their foundation causing difficult outcomes when the child attempts to cope with life and then enters into adulthood potentially unregulated.
The healthy kind of stress is simply called healthy stress. This is the kind of stress that you deal with when you are enjoying something like exercise. Exercise is a great example as it demonstrates how when you put stress on your body the outcome is you actually can get stronger…except of course if you push yourself too hard and you tear something in your body which now becomes toxic stress. Now you have to rest your body, find repair or problems will begin to happen to your body.
Now you don’t have to have depression or anxiety to feel the negative outcomes of stress and decide it might be time to consider counselling Calgary and seek out a qualified counselling therapist, clinical counsellor, or psychotherapist and begin to walk in a healthy New Life.
