4 Questions to Rise Above Your Depression (Depression Help in Calgary)

Depression can slowly creep up in a person’s life and before you know it, you’re having a hard time motivating yourself to do what you need to do, let alone somedays maybe just trying to get out of bed.

Now when it comes to depression there are many strategies to support when finding healing from depression. One of the strategies I’d like to share is in the area of scheduling which will lead to 4 questions you can ask yourself to support you in rising above your depression.

You see, scheduling is not just for organizing your daily routine. Scheduling can be used to support in maintaining momentum in your life and one of the biggest issues when dealing with severe depression is keeping your personal life rolling. Having a schedule can be one of many ways to motivate you to do your next life task needing to be done. However, a schedule should not just have your daily life tasks that need to be completed.

Many people forget to put on one of the most important things in a schedule and that is including things you need to do that you are looking forward to. You see, if all we have are the mundane stuff like just putting in meetings and appointments, that can actually hinder us from wanting to complete our daily tasks needing to be completed. Instead, begin to include the things you are looking forward to doing like seeing that new movie, or seeing a close friend, or looking forward to Friday game night, or date night…and the list goes on.

By placing the positive things, we are looking forward in doing, we are in essence providing opportunities for us to be successful in completing our personal schedule and further enhancing our ability to create momentum in our daily lives.

Along with scheduling the good things in our lives, we might have to also place things in our schedule that we don’t want to do that can easily rob our energy to create continuous motion in our lives. One of the ways we can support our momentum is to ask ourselves solution focused questions that can help us to keep ourselves motivated and accountable to get the things we don’t want to do and actually accomplish it which helps us to feel like were actually getting somewhere in life.

When placing something in your schedule, good/bad or neutral; take a moment to ask yourself the following questions to help you utilize your scheduling to rise above your depression.

4 starter questions to help you rise above your depression when scheduling.

  1. What does my schedule look like today?
  2. Is there anything I need to add in my schedule…especially if it’s something I can look forward to do?
  3. How successful am I feeling right now that I can accomplish completing my schedule, or at least most of my schedule.
  4. Is there anything that is getting in the way of me accomplishing my schedule, and if so, what are some small steps I can do in order to keep to my schedule and keep moving forward.

Scheduling is a fantastic way to support creating momentum in your life, especially when dealing with depression.
