I had coffee with a friend, a few weeks ago who shared some leadership material describing a particular section of the not-for-profit industry that is on average quite small, in comparison to other similar not-for-profit structures that are massive in size and staffing. This often leads to similar structures in the field feeling small and insignificant. Further, somewhere between 80 to 90 percent of this not-for-profit structure are actually small in size, however, very successful for what they do. My friend then asked “Why do I struggle with feeling like I need to have something massive when what I’m doing right now is totally just fine and good enough?” I absolutely agreed with my friend in that we often fall in a trap known as the “comparison trap” where we feel like were not successful unless were as big or bigger than our similar competitors.
Couples can also get in this mindset in trying to become bigger and better than other relationships they see, rather than learning to focus on their own unique strengths and gifts they bring to each other and to the surrounding community.
Couples counselling Calgary supports those desiring to learn to discover their own small team strengths and become a healthy relationship walking in New Life.
