If you are not already aware, Alberta is in the process of looking at the regulation of counselling therapists of which New Life Counselling is part of. This means more protection for the public and hopefully will provide more access for individuals with insurance for counsellors Calgary to be covered which is at present not always the case.
Now I am unable to speak for all counselling therapists in Alberta, however, I am personally very proud of the organization I am also under called the Canadian Professionals Counsellors Association (CPCA). The CPCA has for over 30 years provided a robust self-regulatory route, including ongoing supervision required for all its members. In my opinion, this is one of many things the CPCA does to provide actual protection for the public.
Training in every counselling organization is standard, however, what I have discovered is that not everyone who provides counselling has to have ongoing supervision with their covering organization and it’s important for you (the public) to know that New Life Counselling is committed to ensuring all therapists that work out of New Life Counselling have ongoing clinical supervision (and not just peer to peer consultation which is therapist coffee talk which does not count).
Ongoing clinical supervision provides better therapists and protects the public from therapists that have not been supervised in years, however, protect themselves by being a part of a government-regulated college that may or may not include ongoing supervision standards.
If you would like a counselling therapist, that has ongoing supervision, call 403-690-8617 and set up a time to have a complimentary 15-minute meet and greet. It’s time to be protected, feel safe, and walk in New Life.
