How to Remain Mindful Amidst Life’s Busyness Part 2| Anxiety Therapy Calgary

Life gets busy and if we’re not careful we can be caught up in our day being stressed out instead of being calm and mindful. Let’s take a look at some more ways on how to remain mindful amidst life’s busyness

Anxiety Therapy Calgary Mindfulness Tip 6: Beware of Technology

I enjoy technology as much as the rest of us, however, it is important to know that the rise of anxiety has gone up with the increased usage of technology meaning we need to be mindful and consider A. Set healthy boundaries at work and home. This can include setting up a timer when using social media, playing a game, etc.

Be aware there are some decent mindfulness apps you can download that can support you with, breathing exercises, calming down, listening to relaxing nature music, etc…

Use technology to your advantage and don’t let it take advantage of you.

Anxiety Therapy Calgary Mindfulness Tip 7: Keep It Clean

How is your home and office environment? If it’s cluttered and messy, it might be time to take a few minutes and do a quick clean-up and organize your environment. This helps to lower any distractions, and will support you to not feel overwhelmed with clutter being everywhere in your environment.

Remember positive items like plants (even fake), lighting, and colors that support you in being calm can create a positive and energizing space to stay focused on the tasks needing to be accomplished.

Anxiety Therapy Calgary Mindfulness Tip 8: Self-Compassion

Self-Compassion is a great way to remind yourself that you are human and allows you be kind to yourself. Self-Compassion also reminds us to acknowledge to ourselves that distractions and stressful moments in the day are normal events of daily life. When we catch ourselves being negative towards ourselves, this is a great time to take our negative cognitive thoughts and challenge our thoughts to become positive thoughts. Sometimes positive affirmations or positive quotes can support us from changing our negative mindset to a positive one.

Anxiety Therapy Calgary Mindfulness Tip 9: Keep the Mind Pro-Active

Do positive things that engage your mind in a positive way such as doing things that are stimulating and fun for the brain. Activities that stimulate the mind can be anything from reading a good book, artwork, modeling, or any other hobbies that bring joy in your life.

Other active things that can engage the mind are things that involve motion such as mindful exercise and even activities such as riding a bike or going on a drive around Calgary….well, maybe except for driving Deerfoot at rush hour.

Anxiety Therapy Calgary Mindfulness Tip 10: End Your Day Strong

At the end of a day whether it was relaxing, or super stressful you have an opportunity to end it strong. Practice pro-active end of the day mindful activities such as Journaling your primary emotions and cognitive thoughts (good and bad) and keep track of your progress. If you don’t like writing stuff down then for sure spend a few moments in healthy isolation and REFLECT what went well and what is one area for tomorrow you can work towards improving.
